Demand for AI expertise on the freelance marketplace Fiverr

The demand for AI expertise on the freelancing marketplace Fiverr has skyrocketed as more businesses recognize the value of using this technology. 

Searches for AI-related services have increased in the last six months, according to Fiverr's Spring 2023 Business Trends Index, with certain AI services even outnumbering popular searches like "TikTok Video" and "Custom Logo."

The index found, for example, that searches for "ChatGPT," an AI-powered chatbot developed by OpenAI, were just as common as searches for "Facebook" and "Product Design." Similarly, the number of searches for "TikTok Video" and "Custom Logo" on the AI content production platform "Jasper" outpaced those for "TikTok Video" and "Custom Logo".

The majority of Fiverr's revenue came from freelancers who offered programming and tech-related AI services, such as designing AI apps.

The overall number of "artificial intelligence" search enquiries climbed by 56%, with "AI" and "AI Art" searches increasing by more than 1,000% and 7,000%, respectively. In the United States, the two most popular AI-related services were "Brand Identity Design" (968%) and "Claymation" (18,654%).

The huge increase in demand for AI-related services reflects the technology's broad range of applications in a variety of industries. In fact, barely a few months following ChatGPT's public release, a WordFinder poll discovered that nearly one in every four working Americans used it for work. The tool was most commonly used for idea generating (41%), followed by content production (20%) and email response (14%).
